前阵子收到一则广告电邮,是推销电脑键盘“皮肤”的。很经典,引用如下:
Your Keyboard: Dirtier Than a Toilet, “It turns out that your computer keyboard could put a host of potentially harmful bacteria -- including E. coli and staph -- quite literally at your fingertips….It's a phenomenon most recently illustrated by tests at a typical office environment in the United Kingdom…. four of the keyboards tested were potential health hazards -- and one had levels of germs five times higher than that found on the toilet seat.” By DAN CHILDS, ABC News Medical Unit May 5, 2008
我想问一下:Where was the toilet seat?
(1) Was it in a public toilet or a gent's in a Four Seasons Hotel? Presumably, the toilet seat was also in a "typical office environment in the United Kingdom". But the follow-up question is: What is a "typical" office toilet seat?
(2) Prior to the test, what kind of bum had sat on this particular toilet seat? (This leads to a series of sub-questions, which I shall not spell out here.)
(3) When was the last time this particular toilet seat was cleaned and what kind of cleaning agent was used?
(4) And so on and so forth...
The early bird catches the worm, they say. I am up early, yes, but not out of choice. My jetlag has set in.
很多人看到“无聊”二字,就自动用“boring”来对应。但上面这种“无聊”,显然不是boring,当然你可以说,this guy must be very bored,连这种广告他都要叫真。
其实,I was just being "silly".
Therefore, it is possible that a bird that's seen flying around at the crack of dawn is not looking for a worm or two. It is just being silly.
